Joshua, as usual, got up early, and is rummaging around in the kitchen making breakfast. As everyone woke up, they would smell eggs, waffles, bacon, and pancakes.

Artie and Steve are out on a ping and won't be back at least until tomorrow.

By the time anyone else got up, he's already set the table for breakfast.

"That's what she said?"
Whether that's to HG or Myka, who can tell.

Pete makes a dramatic face. "I refuse to take this abuse, even for bacon!"

He follows this up by eating another piece.

"However, you seem to be making friends with the bacon anyway, Pete." Joshua smirks, his appetite coming back a little. "You're starting to remind me of those Beggin' Strips commercials."

"Who is she and why did she say that, and what on earth are Beggin' Strips?" Helena looks so confused.

"This and the many women he chases after, begging at their feet? I guess his transformation is complete."

[claudiometer]

Claudia snorts (it's a near thing she's not choking on the hash browns, honestly). "Beggin' Strips are a dog treat."
Explaining 'that's what she said' to HG is ABOVE HER PAY GRADE KTHX.

"They don't taste that bad," Pete says. "They're great in a pinch."

Wait, he's probably not supposed to say that. It'll just encourage them!

"Is there anything you haven't eaten, Pete?" The horrified look comes back to Joshua's face. "I mean, I understand experimentation as well as the next person, but there are some things." Ew.

"I still want to know who she is." Helena makes a face, but shakes her head with a laugh. "Pete, one of these days, you are going to eat the wrong thing and, oh, I don't know, turn into a girl or something."

Myka blinks at Joshua. "Do we want to know what you've experimented with?"

Oh my.

[claudiometer]

"He made a proton pack when I was three. Or tried to. Almost burnt down his room instead."
And Claudia herself, but she barely remembers that, and has been assured she ducked out of the way in time.

"So why are we here making fun of me when we've got a pyromaniac in the room?"

As for Helena's comment, Pete bats his eyelashes at her. "Happened once." He motions hands around his chest in the general area of Myka's breast size. "All the way out to here."

"Hey! I'm not a pyro! I was like seventeen at the time! I thought I knew what I was doing!" Joshua is more than a bit defensive. "And as for experimentation, Myka, I'm a scientist, I've worked on all kinds of things. Particles, teleportation, Artifacts... that kind of experimentation."

"Pete, I'd be careful if I were you. Do that much more, and you are going to get smacked."

Helena just smirks at Myka. "I'm certain that he's done plenty of other experimentation as well, Myka. He just doesn't want to admit it."

Myka stares at Pete, and then puts her finger and thumb together in a small circle. "Yes, and when I was a male, it was about this size."

Smile.

[claudiometer]

Claudia snorts. "Man, Pete, with so little to work with you'd think you would avoid corn flakes, not gobble them down every time someone hasn't made breakfast yet."
Whether he gets the joke will depend entirely on whether he's been subject to one of HG's rants on the sordid origins of breakfast cereal. But if he misses it she juuuust might explain.

"I'm offended. Offended by all of you. Almost so offended I'd leave breakfast."

Somehow he seems convinced he can pull that threat off.

Joshua rolls his eyes. "If you leave, Pete, you'd just have to come back for Morning Meeting. Unless you want to be on inventory indefinitely."

Hey, it's his choice.

"Oh, Pete." Helena shakes her head, a smile on her face. "You know that if we, as Claudia would say, gave none of the shits, we would not tease like we do."

"If we put him on inventory, he will just entertain himself in dangerous ways again."

Ping pong, anyone?

"Yeah, well, when you put me on inventory I change light bulbs, and we all know how well that turns out."
See, she can make fun of herself when she's awake!

"And when ya put us on together, we get wild adventure romps, Indy Jones style."

"Actually, we are kinda Indy-ish if you think about it. Less traps, and less running away from huge-ass rocks, but I can see it." Joshua leans backwards in his chair. "And Claud, if we put you on doing chores, Artifacts crash down and the gooery goes haywire, so what are we supposed to do with you?" Joshua, tease his sister? Never!

Helena just shakes her head and goes back to her eggs and bacon. Sometimes she just lets everyone else dig their own grave.

Myka shoots a smile Helena's way. "Good thing we are so responsible, hmm?"
